We are delighted to announce the appointment of Chris Weir, Professor of Medical Statistics and Clinical Trials, as our new Director of Postgraduate Research, effective from 01 August. Chris is an experienced health services researcher and clinical trials methodologist, co-leading the statistical work of the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit. His role involves collaborating with clinical investigators to deliver high-impact clinical trials and health research studies, alongside developing novel statistical clinical trials methodology to support current and future research. His extensive experience and dedication are sure to bring outstanding leadership, ensuring the best possible experience for our research students and robust support for our supervisors and professional services staff.

Our thanks go to Jackie Price, who stepped down from the role earlier this year after many years of dedicated service, and to Harish Nair, who has been chairing the Postgraduate Research degree committee meetings in the interim. Our gratitude also goes to Sarah Golightly, our Postgraduate Research Support Officer, for her continuous support.

I know Chris will provide outstanding leadership, supporting our wonderful research students to have the best possible experience, as well as supporting our committed supervisors and professional services staff in this area. Many thanks to Jackie Price for her many years of service in this role, and to Harish Nair for his Chair duties in the interim.
